In the absence of trade shows or important events, the automotive world presents its innovations in no particular order. In these hours it’s up to the new Mokka, previewed by Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller through the usual (considering the health emergency) videoconference. The car, which can already be ordered, will be available from the beginning of 2021 and will have an attack price of 22,200 euros. It is important to underline that the electric version is already in the range: price 34,000 euros. Figure that, thanks to incentives and possible scrapping, is lowered to 23,000 euros.
The new Mokka-e from Opel
The Mokka-e has a 136 hp engine and 260 Nm of torque, in practice the same as the “relatives” DS 3 Crossback E-Tense and Peugeot e2008. The batteries are 50 kWh, are located under the floor and through a 100 kW charging column, they regenerate 80% in just 30 minutes. The speed is limited to 150 km / h and there are three selectable driving modes: Sport, Normal and Eco, while the autonomy of 320 km.
Of course, alongside the Mokka-e there are also traditional versions with internal combustion engines. These are the 3-cylinder 1.2 turbo petrol and the 4-cylinder 1.5 turbodiesel with powers ranging between 100 and 130 HP and consumption between 4.8 and 3.8 liters / 100 km. Normally these engines are coupled with a manual six-speed gearbox: the most powerful version is also offered with an eight-speed automatic. 4 meters and 15 cm long, the Mokka shows clean and essential lines with a cockpit dominated by the completely redesigned dashboard. In front of the driver there is a configurable digital dashboard, flanked by the touch display (7 “or 10”) for the inevitable multimedia package.
Various accessories are included in the standard or optional equipment among which the adaptive cruise control that adjusts the speed of the car according to the traffic and the automatic lane maintenance system. All Mokkas have an electric parking brake and road sign recognition as standard. The equipment also includes a rear view camera and automatic parking device. As for the rest, the catalog contemplates the possibility of having leather or Alcantara interiors, in addition to the heated seat with massage function for the driver and induction charging for mobile phones.
