Six hundred and thirty horses, 1500 kilos, 310 per hour, 0-100 under 3 seconds, 200 thousand euros. The new Maserati MC20
Presented at the Modena racetrack with an event that was one of the most popular in recent years in terms of size and spectacle, the MC20 aims to revive the splendor of the legendary 12-cylinder MC12. Conceived, designed and engineered entirely in-house in Modena, with the support of the Innovation Lab – a facility in which about 1100 engineers work – the new Maserati mid-engine supercar is a concentrate of technology developed also thanks to the massive use of one of the most advanced driving simulators in the world, which has made it possible to make the decision process of the components that influence the dynamic behavior of the vehicle much faster and more efficient.
The engine of the MC20 is a three-liter V6 with 630 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque mounted behind the cockpit and coupled to an eight-speed double clutch gearbox, which develops around a carbon monocoque frame designed not only to be rigid and light, but also to guarantee a space on board at the top of the category and easier access than the competition. The doors that open upwards also help a lot in this, a stylistic quirk with indubitable functional advantages.
The layout of the car has already been designed to foresee future evolutions from the point of view of the powertrain, which between 2022 and 2023 will become 100% electric (with three motors, one in front and two on the rear axle with torque vectoring function).
