SFR customers deprived of fixed internet due to an outage


A spokesperson for the operator mentioned a probable “routing problem” with some customers.

SFR’s fixed Internet access network was severely disrupted by a failure on the evening of Tuesday, September 1. “Due to a technical incident, some of our fiber subscribers in the region are having problems connecting to the Internet”, soberly indicated SFR on Twitter, adding that “the technical teams are mobilized to resolve this incident as quickly as possible”.


“This is probably a routing problem that has happened to some of our fiber customers”, A spokesperson for the operator, a subsidiary of the Altice group, told AFP, awaiting further information. The specialist site Downdetector reported major disruptions in many French cities from around 5 p.m. According to SFR, the situation returned to normal after 10:30 p.m.


Messages from users on social networks as well as the Downdetector site have also identified problems with the Internet connection concerning another operator, Bouygues Telecom, at around 11 p.m.
