Electric buses have been circulating in Genoa for a couple of years: the E80 produced by Rampini. Relatively compact vehicle, with 43 passengers, suitable for the roads of the Ligurian capital. Vehicles with an autonomy of 150-180 kilometers, powered by a battery pack of 200 kWh.
To the charging infrastructure of this fleet zero emissions will be added, from the summer of next year, ten Siemens systems, located in the AMT station in Cornigliano. The column is called Sicharge UC 100 and has a charging capacity of up to 100 kW. It is an innovative system: the loaders are mounted on top of the buses and do not «steal» parking space. The buses will be recharged at night or in scheduled outages.
It is only the beginning: in the Genoa depot up to 60 additional charging units will be installed. «This first electrification project for public transport in Italy demonstrates the potential of our flexible and compact solution», says Marco Rastelli, head of the Siemens Italy Distribution Systems Business Unit.
