Currently, the world has 7.7 billion people. The world’s population will continue to grow and peak in 2064 with 9.7 billion people. Then, it will decrease to 8.8 billion in 2100. The decline will be felt in Asia and Europe. In China, the population will be halved from 1.4 billion to 730 million. Half the population also in Japan, Thailand, as well as Spain and Italy.

France is an exception among the rich countries. The fertility rate should remain fairly stable. The population in sub-Saharan Africa will increase from one to three billion. The decline in the world’s population is largely due to access to education for girls and access to contraception. Good news for the environment, less for the economy.
