From 20 May, driving schools also reopen. Both the teaching activity and the driving license exams begin again. news that anxiously awaited both the owners of the 7,000 driving schools and the nearly 30,000 collaborators and employees, as well as the over 300,000 candidates waiting to take the exams. But the recovery takes place with a novelty that revolutionizes the test, due to the health need for physical distancing.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport d the indications for the reopening of the local civilian engines for the examination to be carried out in compliance with the safety rules that apply to employees and candidates. The theoretical part of the exam will be carried out in the Motorization rooms, limiting the number of people. There will be a plexiglass barrier between candidates and examiners. Sanitization is frequent, which will concern everything that is within the reach of people, from screens to tables, to bathroom handles. Different entry and exit paths will guide the candidates. The result of the exam will be communicated electronically to the candidate’s driving school or to the email address of the private individuals.
The examination procedure moves largely on the ministry driver’s portal: here – and only here – is the self-instruction video that candidates must watch before taking the exam, in their driving school or, if they are private, independently. The purpose of reducing the residence time of candidates in the exam room. Measurement of temperature before tests is optional.
But the biggest change is about presence of the only candidate in the car, for part of the practical test. In this spaced-out phase, the examiner will ask the questions and the candidate will perform the required maneuvers, within an equipped area (as was already done for A licenses, those of the motorcycle). In the other phases of the guide, the candidate, the instructor and the examiner must wear a mask, a protective visor (or glasses) and disposable gloves. It is also mandatory to wash (or sanitize) your hands before entering the car. After each test, the car will be left stationary for at least 5 minutes to allow for the exchange of air. The exam, in total, lasts 25 minutes, no less than 15 dedicated to driving.
The satisfaction of the insiders there, but it is limited to shooting. Finally we can go back to our work and teaching – says Emilio Patella, national secretary of Autoscuole Unasca -. We are less satisfied with the communication methods, which took place three days after the recovery after weeks of uncertainty and completely changing the modalities of the driving tests. In fact, it is expected that part of the examination must be carried out by the candidate alone on board the vehicle, without an instructor and examiner. An absolute novelty that was better to prepare slowly and not in times of emergency.
