Customers don’t know it yet but having bought a Porsche recently is a gesture of generosity. Today the campaign of the Stuttgart company, Italian division, United to start again. 1000 euros will be donated for each car delivered until 10 August: 500 from the dealer, 500 from Porsche Italy. They will go to the Caritas near the 30 Italian Porsche Centers that collected the orders.
We have two goals in this emergency: the contrast to food and educational poverty – says Pietro Innocenti, CEO of Porsche Italy -. For Save The Children, 15% of families have reduced their food consumption or asked for aid for shopping; more than 50% of school-age children do not have a PC or the Internet. We could not turn away.
The customer will choose the purpose of the donation: each will help 40 families or 10 children. Or with the vouchers for Caritas emporiums and canteens or to buy computers and tablets for students. Help for over a million euros: at least one thousand cars already ordered, to be delivered in the summer. Porsche is not new to these initiatives – remembers Innocenti, who has been at the helm of the Italian division for 8 years -. I am thinking of the € 155,000 for civil protection, at the start of the emergency. To charity events for the fiftieth anniversary of 911 or to support young people in difficulty, at Christmas, through associations from the Veneto and Padua, where we have our offices. We liked the idea of a campaign that would strengthen the bond with the territories in which we work.
The first Taycans will also be delivered. The electric forerunner of Porsche, for Innocenti, arouses curiosity in Italy – the third largest market for the company in Europe – but, due to Covid, it did not have the ideal launch: it is up to us to propose it in a new way. The emergency imposed a change of pace. We won’t match 2019 sales records, but it won’t be a disastrous year. We have been using smart working since 2018: we were ready. On safety, we shared guidelines with dealers: masks, sanitisations, appointments. We are organizing contactless test drives without vendors: the customer accompanied remotely or follows a second car; mode we will keep. We will soon launch a new lease: take the car and start paying it a year later. The construction site of the Milanese concept store is a bit slow, while work on the futuristic Porsche Experience Center – the largest in the world – is proceeding rapidly.
A raise, for Innocenti, passes through incentives, suspension of ecomalus and support to sales networks: The automotive sector generates more than 11% of GDP. Around the Porsche group revolve 60 companies, suppliers of components, which represent a turnover of 500 million euros. Luxury cars are also this: behind our work there are many people.
