Nokia workers met on the streets of Lannion (Côtes-d’Armor) on Saturday July 4. The telephone giant has announced an important social plan which will notably affect the city site. 402 posts could be cut, more than half of the workforce. In total in France, nearly 1,200 jobs may soon disappear.
A meeting is to take place on Monday July 6 in Paris to discuss this plan and a new event is scheduled for Wednesday July 8. Present at the demonstration, deputy LR des Côtes-d’Armor Marc Le Fur called the government on the urgency of the situation. “We have no right to lose this pole. The state must reinvest. The great lesson of the crisis we have gone through is that we must regain our sovereignty”, he claims.
