Its ceiling will soon drop to € 50 on May 11. Contact with keyboards, touching cash … So many payment habits that the French are increasingly trying to get rid of them. These means are seen as potential vectors of Covid-19 contamination. Banks therefore want to encourage contactless bank payment. The ceiling, currently 30 €, will be raised to 50 €.

“It’s better, it will guarantee a little more security for people who often handle their bank card”, says a supermarket customer. “Using credit card keyboards, I’m a little scared, anyway”, confesses another client. Most traders say they are in favor. “It is an ease of payment for customers and it helps to preserve the health of merchants”, explains a wine merchant.
