The epidemic of Coronavirus begins to arrive in Belarus, where the first cases are reported in the city of Vitebsk, in the east of the country. A reality opposite to the official version of the authorities, who take the subject lightly.
About 40 kilometers from the Russian border, the city of Vitebsk, 370,000 inhabitants could become a major focus of the epidemic. Because in Belarus as elsewhere, the coronavirus is spreading, despite the denial displayed for weeks by the leader Alexander Lukashenko. So while almost the entire sports planet is at a standstill, the Belarusian football championship continues to continue with full stadiums, as if nothing had happened.
The man who has ruled the country for more than a quarter of a century was still in a hockey game last Saturday and is unwilling to adopt social distancing or activity reduction measures.
Rather live upright than die on your knees! Stop me, but why? I don’t understand, there is no virus here!
A few days earlier, in an official meeting, the President of Belarus praised the merits of agriculture as an antidote to the coronavirus: “People work on tractors, nobody talks about viruses. The tractor will cure everyone”, explained Alexander Lukashenko. In Minsk, the capital, people over 65 are now invited to stay at home and students are exempt from classes, but bars and restaurants remain open. The only security measures lie in the distance of 1.5 meters between each consumer.
