The Coronavirus has postponed us (also) the pleasure of seeing the first model of one of the models that want to scratch Ferrari’s dominance in the super sports sector in action. The move of the debut of the new film of the James Bond saga No time no die moved from spring to November, it prevents admiring the Aston Martin Valhalla, (almost) definitive version of the AM-RB 003, which appeared at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The Valhalla comes after the Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro, from which it inherits the advanced solutions aerodynamics and the refined carbon construction: the result of the close collaboration between the British manufacturer, the brilliant Adrian Newey and Red Bull Advanced Technologies.
Valhalla wants to be a significant model Not surprisingly, Aston Martin has created a new engine, entirely developed at home, after 52 years. This is the 3-liter V6 Twin Turbo, weighs just 200 kg and has very compact dimensions. So much that it can be mounted both in the central position, as in the case of the Valhalla, and in the front. The compactness of a dry sump system that also allows you to lower the center of gravity of the car. On the new super sports car it will be joined by electric units for a total power that should exceed 715 HP. The mandatory conditional, given that the power and torque values of the new V6 have not been revealed. In addition, fully compliant with the requirements for obtaining the Euro 7 approval.
As for the use of the hybrid powertrain, unpublished for Aston Martin, the use on the Vanquish coming out in 2023 is almost certain, while it is unclear whether it will also be used on a future version of the new Dbx SUV. Returning to Valhalla, it will be built in 500 copies and should debut in 2021 No news for now, on the price list. Despite the extreme setting, the two-seater will be more practical than the Valkyrie: the wider central tunnel offers more space for the shoulders and behind the seats there is a small luggage compartment. The controls are minimized and concentrated on the display and multifunction steering wheel, while the entire 3D printed dashboard. In November, even if only on the big screen we will know more.
