The hybrid is a Toyota mantra, from unsuspected times. The numbers say it: of the 90 thousand units registered in Italy last year, two thirds of which are represented by hybrid models plus the electric Prius Easy to think that from the second half of 2020, the share will rise as the new Rav4 plug will arrive on the market -in, which will be added to the non-rechargeable one. Its new hybrid system consisting of the reliable four-cylinder petrol engine, a lithium-ion battery rechargeable from the external network to the car and a pair of electric motors The 306 hp of total power and all-wheel drive allow the car to start from 0 at 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds. There are four driving modes, the electric one allows you to travel at zero emissions for about 65 km, with a maximum speed of 135 km / h.

Aesthetically, the Rav4 plug-in hybrid it is characterized by a slightly different band from the others, with chrome in the lower part, for unprecedented air intakes and 18 or 19 “alloy wheels (optional), also with a new design. The interior has also undergone an update: see the new fabric of the seats and the multimedia system which has a 9 “screen and provides integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 2020 will also be the year for the special GR versions, developed in collaboration with Toyota Gazoo Racing, the sports department of the house. They concern the iconic Supra coup and the popular Yaris, which can already be ordered online, respectively at the price of 67,900 and 32,563 EUR. The GR Supra gained a second version equipped with the 2.0 258 hp four-cylinder engine and 400 Nm of torque.

Instead, GR Yaris builds on the experience gained from the House in the rallies – where he won the Marche title in 2018 and Drivers in 2019 – and will serve as a basis for the development of the next generation of the Yaris WRC. It should be emphasized that despite the ideological derivation and the construction on the same platform as the normal Yaris, the modifications are so numerous that it could almost be considered an S-model. 400 cm long, almost 6 more than the Yaris, while 180.5 cm wide (against 175 cm). The engine, mounted transversely, is a brand new and very compact 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo: it has 261 hp.

Curiosity: the Japanese version, equipped with a more permeable particulate filter, due to the different anti-pollution regulations, it reaches 272 HP and 370 Nm. With such a powerful engine and such a small size, the GR Yaris’ performance is not surprising: less than 5.5 seconds to shoot from 0 to 100 km / h and 230 km. / h of maximum speed self-limited.
